A very good turnout of
twenty seven Legend cars were on hand Saturday night at Colorado National
Speedway
as the Legends racing was very good. Several drivers were out for their first night of the season. This was actually Lariat Racing's first night at CNS in 2010. Along with this, it was also the first night that the new Federal tires that will be the standard for the series could be used. We had heard from several sources that the tires would be very slick when first placed on the car and run but would become very tack as they broke in over 60 laps or so. This meant we started off with our normal set up but had to keep 'loosening' the car as the night went on to chase the tires. We started third in the our heat race but could quickly tell we hadn't loosened the car up for enough for this race and ended up with a sixth place finish. This meant that we started the main event in twelfth, outside of row six. We focused on really loosening the car for this race and could definitely tell at the start. It was very loose but as the tires heated up through out the 25 lap feature, the car got better. We had several good restarts and passed cars to get as high as 7th but finished the race in 9th out of 27 cars. This was our second straight top 10 finish and no accidents so far. It has been a good start the season. The focus will now be on getting much more aggressive with the driving and getting used to driving a little looser car. The next race we will attend is May 22 at CNS. Hopefully we will see you at the races. |
