Lariat Racing - 23rd Place Finish at CNS

This was a rough weekend for us at CNS.  During the first practice, we developed a bad high RPM miss.  It would start after 4 or 5 laps at full speed.  We replaced all of the cars electronic ignition parts before the our heat race and everything seemed to be fine.  We started the heat (trophy dash) on the pole and finished second.  This gave us the great starting position of outside of row one for the main.

The car has some very odd handling inconsistencies during the main.  It would be good for a few laps and then would push up the track out of nowhere.  After getting the car home, we found that we had a bad steering box that was at times, only turning one wheel at a time.  Replacing this broken box will be one of this week's projects.

On top of this steering problem, the miss came back after 5 laps in the main and the car essentially quit running after about 11 laps.  We had to pull the car off at that point and out night was over.

We had loosened the car for the main, assuming the track would tighten up after the sun went down and the track cooled off.  It turns out that with the new tires, we will have to loosen the car more when the sun goes down because the car definitely pushed even more in the main.  This was also caused in part by the bad steering box problem.

We will have a lot of work to do this week to get these problems fixed and will then be racing in Pueblo on 5/29.  Hopefully we will see you at the track.
